That moment when a child receives their very first device is so exciting. I still remember the Nokia block phone I received when I turned 12 years old. Nowadays, kids are getting devices at a much younger age and their devices are way cooler with access to so much more. They have the whole world at their fingertips- which can be both a blessing and a curse. Because of this, in my future classroom I will prioritize topics such as Digital Literacy and Ethics and identifying Inappropriate Content. Teaching Digital Literacy and Ethics will allow my students to know how to navigate different sites and programs efficiently, as well as identify when something might not be true or safe. The Ethics side of it will encourage students to be good digital citizens by not claiming others' work as their own, not cyberbullying, and leaving a positive digital footprint. However, no matter how safe you teach your students to be, they will inevitably come across inappropriate content at some point in their digital use. Because I cannot shield them from everything, I will prepare them to know how to recognize and react when they do stumble across something they know they should not be seeing.

I totally agree that no matter how safe you try and teach your students to be they will always be exposed to the cruelty of the technological world. I also think it is so funny but also dangerous how such young kids are being exposed to technology, my cousin literally just turner 8 and got an Iphone 12.
We are now living in the age of digital devices so it enables us to share out life updates or receive anything that influences us a lot. Hence, teaching Digital Literacy and Ethics will students not only how to identify accurate information should obtain but also let them know the importance of digital citizenship.
